Caroline recently joined our team as HR Interim Consultant. Her positive energy, flexible approach, and great sense of humor make her an invaluable addition to our team.
  1. What is your favorite season and why?
Spring. I love how nature comes back to life, and the first rays of sunshine after a long winter bring a sense of renewal and joy.

  2. What is your favorite Eurovision hit?
"Goeiemorgen, Morgen" by Nicole and Hugo. I used to wake up my children with this song, including a little dance, when they were young. It created cherished memories, even though they eventually hid under the blankets as they grew older.

  3. What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
    Mocha.

  4. Do you hold on to certain rituals? What are they?
Yes, I have my magical mornings that start at 5:30 am. After hitting the snooze button once or twice (which, by the way, is the time when I get my best ideas), I either exercise for 20 to 30 minutes (at home, using the app: Les Mills On Demand, yoga, cardio, or strength training) or meditate for 10 to 15 minutes. Then, I journal and write down at least three things I'm grateful for. I also send out my daily email from "365 smiles" (= a daily tip to make someone happy and become happier yourself). Meanwhile, my dog is fully awake and sits next to me with her head tilted, which is dog language for "I want to go for a walk now". So, we go for a short walk. After breakfast, I try to prepare a healthy lunch. By the time I'm done with all of this, it's time to start working for YouConnect. (Oh, and I take a shower too).

  5. With whom would you like to swap places for a day?
Natalia - I think she's a fantastic lady full of energy, dedication, and fun. Swapping with her for a day, I'd love to experience her passion for singing and dancing (and maybe exchange voices too!).

  6. If you were going to an uninhabited island, what would you definitely take with you?
A hammock, matches, a knife, a fishing net, and a satellite phone. With these items, I feel confident about my chances of survival, thanks to my fascination with survival programs like Bear Grylls.

  7. Which celebrity would you like to interview one day?
Michelle Obama – I think she's a fantastic woman: smart, beautiful, socially engaged, and always authentic. She uses her position to bring positive changes to society (e.g., promoting healthy lunches in American schools). This quote hits the nail on the head: "She doesn't claim to have all the answers, but she does know how to give damn good answers."

  8. If you could go back in time, to which period would you go?
The first settlers in America – I admire that they took the leap to leave everything behind in Europe and start anew in the USA. How exciting must that have been? They literally knew nothing. They went there with their families, claimed a piece of land, and built everything from scratch. Villages, cities, laws... Learning to live with what nature and agriculture had to offer. In short, I have a soft spot for all stories from that time.

  9. What is your favorite place, and what can be found there?
Antwerp – It has a rich history, and there's always something to do. An Antwerpian is a bon vivant, and that is demonstrated in all the bustling terraces, cafes, and restaurants. When you walk or cycle around, you always feel a wonderful vibrant atmosphere.

  10. What would you like to do one day that you've never done before?
Giving a TED talk - I'm passionate about spreading positivity and smiles in the world, and giving a TED talk about it is my ultimate dream.

  11. What is your role within YouConnect?
    HR Recruitment Consultant.

  12. What drives you every day?
Making people feel better after every interaction with me.

  13. How would you describe the atmosphere among colleagues at YouConnect?
Warm, friendly, interested, and cheerful – Once a month, there's a full team meeting at YouConnect. We are with 20 colleagues now. In times of remote work and different work locations, this is a moment when the whole team gathers around the big table in the office in Ghent. Even though meetings are nobody's favorite activity, and these meetings are handled professionally, the atmosphere is always warm and cheerful. Although I belong to the slightly older generation and have only recently started at YouConnect, I really feel that I'm part of a great team, and that's nice.

  14. What do you consider important in your contact with candidates and clients?
The drive to help both parties move forward.

  15. What is your vision of the future of recruitment?
Attracting the right people who fit within the company culture and share the same values will become increasingly important. Recruitment will always require a human touch and cannot be fully automated by computers or AI.
