From coffee dates with friends to quiet moments with a good book, and from the vibrant buzz of Brussels to the breathtaking nature of New Zealand—meet Lene, who joined YouConnect as an Outsourcing Consultant in September. With a background in nursing and a master’s degree in Sociology, she combines empathy and strong communication skills to build lasting connections between clients and candidates.

What are your interests, hobbies, or passions outside of work?

I love catching up with friends over coffee or a glass of wine. I also enjoy working out at Animo and unwinding at home with a good book.

What is your ultimate holiday destination and why?

There are so many destinations still on my list, but if I had to pick one ultimate dream trip, it would definitely be New Zealand.

What’s your favorite dish?

I’m a big fan of pasta, and if I had to choose, truffle pasta is my absolute favorite!

Do you have a recommendation for a book, TV series, or film that everyone should experience?

One book I highly recommend is The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón. It’s such a gripping story that I read a few years ago, and it still crosses my mind from time to time.

Are you more of a nature person or a city person?

Honestly, I’m a mix of both. I love exploring beautiful landscapes and tranquil nature, but I also enjoy the energy of living in a vibrant city like Brussels, where there’s always something happening.

What is your role at YouConnect?

Since September 2024, I’ve been working at YouConnect as an Outsourcing Consultant.

What did you do before joining YouConnect?

Before starting at YouConnect, I worked as a nurse for five years while simultaneously earning my master’s degree in Sociology.

What do you think are the most important skills for a recruitment consultant?

A great recruitment consultant needs to be an excellent listener, communicate clearly, and show empathy to truly understand and support both clients and candidates. Negotiation skills and a results-oriented mindset are also key to making successful matches.

How would you describe the atmosphere among colleagues at YouConnect?

The atmosphere at YouConnect is warm, friendly, and collaborative. I really enjoy coming to the office, especially when several colleagues are there, and we can share lunch together.

What do you value most in your interactions with candidates and clients?

Open communication and genuine interest are what matter most to me. Building trust requires truly listening to people and having the courage to offer honest advice when needed.
