Together with a co-trainer from another company, we provided about 80 students with an in-depth look behind the scenes of the selection process in small groups.
JINC left nothing to chance and ensured perfect support with clear scenarios and meticulous preparations. All the students we met had already worked on the topic in class beforehand. They searched for an interesting vacancy and prepared their motivation letter and CV.
During an interactive 100-minute workshop, we taught them the basic skills of applying for jobs:
What do recruiters find important? How do you prepare for a job interview? What should and shouldn’t you include in your CV? How do you handle it if your Dutch isn’t very strong? How can ChatGPT help you, and what are the pitfalls of using AI when applying for jobs? How do you keep your nerves under control, and what do you say to the recruiter you are talking to?
And, of course, role plays to demystify the “selection interview” and show how you can turn it into a valuable, enjoyable conversation.
For some students, it turned out to be incredibly difficult to write flawless letters and CVs, while others simply copied the output from ChatGPT and were surprised to learn that recruiters could detect this.
It was admirable to see how most of them stepped out of their comfort zones during the role plays and worked on our feedback. Hopefully, this helped them build more self-confidence for future applications.
So, was it educational? Absolutely! And not just for the students. For us, it was enriching to dive into the mindset of young applicants. Their fresh perspective on the job market and the challenges they face also inspired us.
YouConnect will certainly continue this fantastic, inspiring partnership.
